About New Album Release Date From Universal Music Japan
Shino from Love Love Jack called Universal Music Japan today asking about the release date of Mariah's new album since there were rumors that it is being postponed to next year. She told UMJ that there are rumors of a Feb.2005 release date in other countries and wanted to know if the release date for Japan is going to be postponed too. Than the UMJ person seemed to check the internet and said "It does seem that there are rumors of a postponed release date but there are no plans of changing the Japan release date for now." Then Shino asked if there is a possibilty of the new album being released in Japan on November 10th and next year in other countries. Then they said "Yes maybe. I don't know what is going to happen in other countries but right now in Japan, the single and album will be released as planned."
Today, the official site of Japan updated the news section for the first time in seven months so maybe they started to move.

ジェイダキッスのニュー・シングル「U Make Me Wanna（原題）」にヴォーカルでゲスト参加したマライア・キャリーが、この曲のPVにも出演することになりました。撮影は、9月第4週の週末にロサンゼルスで行なわれる予定で、監督は、過去マライアの「ブリンギン・オン・ザ・ハートブレイク」のPVなどを手掛けたSanna Hamriが担当するそうです。なお、以前マライアとジェイダキッスは、マライアのアルバム『チャームブレスレット』に日本盤ボーナス・トラックとして収録された「ミス・ユー」でもコラボレートしています。

"Stay The Night" to be released November 15?
Last month, Cool Clarity, an online music forum based in the United Kingdom, announced that Mariah's first single from her new album would be "Stay The Night" featuring Kanye West and that it would be in stores on October 11 (in the UK).
A few weeks later, it was removed from the release schedule, but it has re-appeared this week under a different date. According to the site, "Stay The Night" will now be released November 15.
In related news, the Japanese leg of HMV says Mariah's new single will be released on November 3 in Japan. They have also added a description of the single to their website. Please keep in mind there has been no official confirmation as of yet.

Mariah to act on boob tube
Mariah Carey is poised to make her comeback in a big way.

She has a much-anticipated album in the works that will feature tracks with hotshot producer/recording artist Kanye West and is said to be in talks to star in her very own sitcom.
Fans of the well-rounded singer could get a weekly dose of Mariah if the mighty UPN gets its way. There's no word on a title or concept for the project — but we know it's a comedy.
Mariah actually had to audition for the role this month in New York and TV execs were said to be pleasantly surprised by the amount of acting talent she has and claim the uber-diva is actually quite funny.
You may have noticed that Mariah went into partial seclusion following her big-time big-screen flop Glitter in 2001.
Hopefully she spent some time with an acting coach during her lengthy hiatus.

Mariah to Shoot "U Make Me Wanna" Video With Jadakiss
Mariah is heading off to Los Angeles this week to shoot the video for the hot new track U Make Me Wanna by Jadakiss which features the sultry vocals of the Lovely Miss M. This is not the first time this dynamic duo have paired up, Jadakiss appeared on Mariah's Miss You a track from her The Remixes album. The video is being directed by Sanna Hamri who also shot Mariah's video for Bringin' on the Heartbreak.

New Album Postponed to 2005?
According to a Universal Germany representative, Mariah's upcoming album has been postponed to 2005 with a possible release on February. The news has not been confirmed by any other sources so far.

Mariah and Neptunes Collabo
Last February 22, it could be remembered that MariahCareyPh.com was the first one who reported the news about Mariah Carey and Neptunes doing a positive collaboration for Mariah's upcoming new album. The news came right after a PMCF member heard a DJ from a local FM radio station 97.1 WLSFM saying that Neptunes producers Pharrell and Chad Hugo will surely collaborate with Mariah on two songs tentatively titled as "Glow" and "Forgiven But Not Forgotten".
While there was no follow-up news, the whole report stayed a rumour since then. Now, there is already a lot of news coming from around the world confirming the said collaboration. According to UK Flava, the website reported that rapper Nelly just finished a duet with Mariah and that the duet between the two has apparently been recorded with Pharrell on production duties.
Also Mariah's friend and MTV Europe correspondent Jasmine Dotiwala has confirmed the report through an article she wrote for The Voice. "While Stateside I also, of course, caught up with Mariah, who's working in the studio with Pharrell on some new material", Jasmine said. However, there is no confirmation yet whether the supposed titles mentioned above are also true.

The latest megastar to add a new string to her bow is the unlikely fashion icon singer/songwriter Mariah Carey. The 34-year-old "Through The Rain" hitmaker has just launched a range of accessories under her own Automatic Princess brand name. The range of bracelets and necklaces, have hit Claire’s Accessories stores in limited quantity across America and plans are apparently afoot to launch the range in their global stores early next year, if USA sales are strong.
Carey, currently recording the follow up to 2002’s Charmbracelet album, has been spotted sporting Automatic Princess branded jewellery and clothing both in the video for last year’s summer smash "I know What You Want," with rapper Busta Rhymes, and during her sell out UK Charmbracelet Tour. She has previously announced plans to extend the brand to include children’s clothing and a range of children’s books about a bi-racial orphan.
Much derided for her revealing outfits, Carey may initatially seem an unlikely fashion icon. However her liking for jeans with the waistband cut off and football jersey-design dresses have sparked a number of fashion trends in the US. No doubt she’ll be hoping Automatic Princess is equally popular.
Well who can say we won't be asking for the latest "AP" collection in a few years time?

'All I Want for Christmas' songwriter dies at 91
BOSTON - Songwriter Donald Yetter Gardner, who wrote the international children's favorite "All I Want for Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth," died Wednesday. He was 91.
Gardner died of complications from an operation after falling at his Needham home, said his son, Richard Yoder Gardner.
Gardner wrote the song in 1947 while teaching music at the Smithtown, N.Y. public schools. He was filling in for his wife, teaching a class of grade-schoolers, during the holiday season. He asked the class what they wanted for Christmas, and when they hissed and lisped their answers, he noticed that almost all of them had at least one front tooth missing, his son said.
The song has been recorded dozens of times by artists that cut across musical genres, including Spike Jones, George Strait and Mariah Carey. Gardner's favorite version was recorded by Nat King Cole, said another son, Jerry Yoder Gardner.
Gardner embraced the fame that the song brought him, but his talents went beyond one tune. He played many instruments, wrote church music, directed church choirs, and produced several community choruses and community musical events.
He was a member of the Kiwanis and Exchange clubs and was elected into the American Society of Authors, Composers and Publishers.

Mariah to do a sitcom?
The comeback trail might include a sitcom for Mariah Carey, who flew into New York Tuesday for a meeting with UPN heads. "She's very funny and has a lot of acting talent," one insider said. In an effort to explain Mariah's last acting stint, the bomb "Glitter," the insider said: "It was a simple project that was taken out of her hands and made into a disaster." Carey's new album with Island/Def Jam, which has tracks with Kanye West on it, should be ready later this year. A rep for Carey declined comment.

MonarC Music Mystery
One month ago, Fox News ran an article where it is explained how Mariah Carey is trying to reduce her expenses. One of the most relevant information is about Mariah's label MonarC. The article said Mariah shut down the label because it was not profitable.
A few weeks ago, Mariah Hero.com informed other details that confirmed the story. However, the real status of MonarC Music is still a mystery. Today, Mariah Hero received an E-mail directly from MonarC records where Mariah Hero is being asked for information about the site.
The E-mail comes from the E-mail address monarc2@monarc.com, which was the more used E-mail address from the label. We have also received the notification that MonarC.com still belongs to Mariah Carey, so the real situation of MonarC Music is still a mystery. Maybe we'll only know when the new album comes out.
Furthermore, the article by Fox News had another possible error as they inform Mariah won't be recording in Capri, Italy again. Despite this information, Mariah Carey was reported to return to the Italian island to record some material for the new album. The rest of the article by Fox News is irrelevant.

Mariah Heroは数週間前にサイトに、マライアのオフィシャルサイトとHBFはもうmonarc.comがホストじゃなくmariahcarey.comに変わっているためMonarCは何も言わずに本当に閉鎖したようだ、というニュースを載せた。そして昨日Mariah HeroはMonarCからメールが来て、サイトについての詳細を聞かれた。（私もMonarC閉鎖のニュースが出てから数日後にMonarCのスタッフからメールがきました）だからMonarCは本当は閉鎖していないのでは？それからMariah Heroは、monarc.comはまだマライアが所有しているという連絡を受けたみたいです。まだ公式には何も発表されていないので未だに謎に包まれているが、もしかしてニューアルバムが発売されたらわかるでしょう。（ていうことは日本のファンが一番先に知ることができるのかな？＾＾）
それからMonarC閉鎖というニュースを流したFOX NEWSはまた間違ったニュースを流してました。それはマライアがもうカプリではレコーディングしないというニュースです。実際にそのニュースが出たあと、マライアはカプリでレコーディングしていることが伝えられ、写真も出てます。HBFでもカプリでの写真を載せてます。

Utadaが洋楽史上最高のスタートで首位！
Utadaの全米デビューアルバム『EXODUS』（日本先行発売、全米での発売は10/5）が初登場首位を獲得。
今回、Utada『EXODUS』の発売1週目の売上枚数（初動売上枚数)は52.4万枚。これは洋楽のオリジナル・アルバムの初動売上枚数としては、95年発売のマライア・キャリー『デイドリーム』の48.7万枚（1995/10/9付）を上回る歴代最高記録で、9年ぶりに洋楽オリジナル・アルバムの初動売上枚数記録を塗り替えた[表参照] （その他、2004年の洋楽アルバムの初動売上枚数、洋楽1stアルバムの初動売上枚数でも、新記録を樹立）。

According to the Oricon Charts, Utada's debut album EXODUS has sold 524,000 copies in it's first week of sales in Japan. This is the largest-ever first week sales for any English-language album in Japan, edging out Mariah Carey's 1997 Daydream album by roughly 37,000 copies.

But to tell the truth, I think this is wrong! Utada is a famous Japanese singer and she has sold thousands of CDs here in Japan. Now she is going to debut in America as an English singer "Utada". And Utada decided to release the debut album "Exodus"(released in America on Oct.5th) in Japan a month earlier! Of course the album will sell so big! How can Mariah be edged out?! I think it will not be a fare thing for Mariah and all the other international singers that are in the chart. "Exodus" should have been subjected to the Japanese music charts.

"While Stateside I also, of course, caught up with Mariah, who’s working in the studio with Pharrell on some new material. We visited an open mic session at the village underground hosted by Mariah’s one time backing vocalist Melanie Daniels."

Mariah's "Hero" and its 9-11 connection
When it was first released as a single, Mariah Carey’s "Hero" became an instant inspirational classic. But since the tragic events of September 11, its impact has become even greater. It has re-emerged as one of the inspirational, heartfelt songs which have provided comfort and hope to many people during the terrorist crisis.

"Hero" was written by Carey and Walter Afanasieff in 1992, and was originally conceived as a theme song for the movie, Hero (starring Dustin Hoffman), which would potentially be sung by Gloria Estefan. "I had been asked by Sony's soundtrack division to write and produce the end, title theme for Hero," recalled Afanasieff. "Soon after, when I was in New York working in the studio with Mariah, I suggested we try to write a song for this movie. During a studio break, I was tinkering at the piano, playing the notes that would become the piano intro to 'Hero.' Mariah liked what she heard, and we started writing the song, with the 'Hero' theme in mind. She sang, 'then a hero comes along.' She was truly inspired; the words just flowed out."

It was during this writing session that Sony Music President and COO Tommy Mottola (who was Carey's fiance at the time) came into the studio and heard "Hero."

"I told Tommy we were writing a song for this movie," said Afanasieff. "He said, 'Stop, this song is brilliant. We need to save this song for Mariah's album. We decided to keep it for ourselves, and we recorded it for her Music Box album. As for the Hero film, Luther Vandross ultimately wrote and recorded the end title song."

Afanasieff produced "Hero" with Carey, and he performed all of the music tracks. "When I recorded the track, I tried to simulate an orchestral sound with my synthesizers," explained Afanasieff. "There's a huge, timpani roll, a swell of strings, and french horns, which were all done on keyboards. In the back of my mind, I thought we might have an orchestra re-create the string parts. However, when Mariah completed her vocals, she said the recording sounded fine just the way it was, and that we didn't need to bring in an orchestra."

"Hero" was subsequently released as the second single from Music Box, and reached number one on the Billboard "Hot 100" chart on December 25, 1993. It stayed atop the chart for four weeks. Upon its initial release, "Hero" was quickly recognized as a unique, inspirational song. At her Madison Square Garden concert in mid-December 1993, Carey dedicated her performance of "Hero" to the victims and families of a tragic, Long Island train shooting which had occurred on December 7. She also donated proceeds from "Hero" to the victim's families. In 2001, Carey's performance of the song was a focal point of the New York telethon, America: A Tribute To Heroes.

Over the years, "Hero" has been regarded as one of Carey's most significant and memorable recordings. "It has become a song which has given a lot of meaning to people in times of despair," said Afanasieff. "Mariah told me she has received thousands of letters from people who were moved and helped by the song. For kids who were messed up on drugs, or were contemplating suicide, the song helped give them hope and strength."

In the wake of September 11 tragedies, the song's impact has risen to a new level. "The events of the world have resulted in certain songs [like "Hero"] being embraced by people." explained Afanasieff. "Following September 11, everyone involved has truly been a hero. All of the firemen, police and victims were heroes, as well as the military personnel. We're always going to live in a world where there are tragedies. Everyday someone has to be a hero."

'U Make Me Wanna' debuts on the R&B singles chart
This week "U Make Me Wanna" graduates from the Bubbling Under R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart to the main R&B singles chart with a debut of #75. It debuts at that same position on the R&B airplay chart. Mariah's last two appearances on this chart have been as a featured artist. Of course the bigger of the two hits was "I Know What You Want" which made it all the way to #2 on the R&B singles chart.

McFadden: Westlife song with Carey was 'a shambles'

Former WESTLIFE singer BRIAN McFADDEN has slammed the boyband's collaboration with MARIAH CAREY as "a shambles".
McFadden, who left the Irish group earlier this year (04) to pursue a solo career, believes musicians should only ever team up to record a track together if the moment is right.
And the 24-year-old star still cringes at the memory of Westlife and Carey's cover of PHIL COLLINS' AGAINST ALL ODDS.
He says, "I don't think collaborations should ever be pre-planned. When Westlife did it with Mariah Carey it ended up being a shambles.
"The best collaborations are when you just realise it should be one and it just happens."

STARS, firms and our family of readers all dug into their pockets yesterday as The Sun's fund for the kids of Beslan raised £127,000 in just one day.

England skipper DAVID BECKHAM and SIR PAUL McCARTNEY each donated thousands of pounds.
SIR CLIFF RICHARD and RONAN KEATING joined in too, and there was support from fellow pop stars MARIAH CAREY, WILL YOUNG and RACHEL STEVENS.
Prime Minister TONY BLAIR called our appeal "a great campaign" and suggested we widen it to include gifts of toys.
Companies large and small threw their weight behind the fund.
And readers up and down the country rushed to give what they could.
We launched our national appeal on yesterday's front page with £10,000 immediately matched by VIRGIN boss Sir Richard Branson and BRITISH GAS.
Last night soccer idol Becks said: "Our thoughts are with parents and children who suffered immeasurably in this tragedy."
Pop legend Sir Paul said: "Anything that can be done to ease the suffering has my total support."
Sir Cliff, one of the first to pledge a donation, said: "All of us have wanted to help. I'm glad The Sun has given me a chance to do just that."
Mariah said: "It is great what The Sun is doing."
Will added: "I'd encourage anyone in a position to help to make a donation."
And Rachel said: "My thoughts are with families caught up in this tragedy. I hope through The Sun's initiative we can help raise enough money to help."

Beckham and McCartney help heal Russian hostages
WASHINGTON: Legendary rocker Sir Paul McCartney and England soccer skipper David Beckham have generously donated thousands of dollars to a fundraising drive meant for helping out the victims of the recent Russian hostage crisis.
McCartney and Beckham responded to British newspaper The Sun's call for funds following the tragic and gruesome school siege by Chechen terrorists in Beslan last week.
Music stalwarts like Sir Cliff Richard, Ronan Keating, Mariah Carey, Will Young and Rachel Stevens have also offered their support to the fundraising campaign.
"Anything that can be done to ease the suffering has my total support," rate the music quoted McCartney as saying.
"Our thoughts are with the parents and children, who suffered immeasurably in this tragedy," added Beckham.

Nelly To Release Two Albums On The Same Day

It takes a confident artist to release two entirely different Albums on the same day. But the last 4 years have proved that Nelly has every reason to be confident. Having sold a combined total of more than 14 million copies of previous releases ‘Country Grammar’ and ‘Nellyville’, and over a million of last year’s remix album, Nelly is set to make rap history with the release of two differently theme CDs, the part-orientated ‘Sweat’ and the slower paced ‘Suit’, later this month.

Such an ambitious move might seem a gamble. But the artist formally known as Cornell Haynes Jnr, has already proved his versatility, with two very different, but equally popular hits from previous album ‘Nellyville’, following up the cheeky club-anthem "Hot In Here" with the worldwide number one smoocher Dilemma. The later, a duet with Destiny’s Child star Kelly Rowland, was so popular that it also succeeded in launching Rowland to a solo career which rivalled that of lead singer Beyonce.

Given the popularity of ‘Dilemma’, it’s unsurprising to hear that Nelly has developed something of a taste for diva duets. The faster paced ‘Sweat’ is set to feature a Christina Aguilera duet, Tilt ‘Cha Head Back’, which is already being tipped as a future hit single. What’s more Nelly’s reported to have joined the growing list of rap’s finest who are working with Mariah Carey on her newest album, set for release later this year. A duet between the two has apparently been recorded with Neptunes producer Pharrell, (who previous worked his magic for ‘Hot In Here’), on production duties.

Never a stranger to collaborations, Nelly has combined his solo career to date with a position in Hometown rap crew St. Lunatics, and hit big last year, with P. Diddy on ‘Shake Ya Tailfeathers’ from the Bad Boys II soundtrack.

Joining the likes of Guns ‘N’ Roses and Bruce Springsteen by releasing two albums simultaneous, already seems to be paying off. Already riding high on the US billboard singles chart, new double A-Sided single, ‘Flap Your Wings/My Place’, which showcases a track from each album, has already gone to the top spot on UK's Top 40 last weekend.
